Hi,
I was told for AX 7 VMs, there are Tier 1 type and Tier 2 type environments. What will be the difference between them?
Thanks,

Hi Yuji,
You can find some information in the following document
download.microsoft.com/.../Dynamics_365_Enterprise_edition_Licensing_Guide.pdf
Hope this answers your question.
Best regards,
Ludwig
Based on the document sounds like only customers will have the Tier 2 environment? Do partners also get both Tier1 and Tier2? If no, how can a partner who is developing a D365 app can test if this works on the Tier2 environment?
Any idea about this?
Hi there,
Bit old this question but I found it looking for something else!
We are a partner who implements D365FO but my bit of the business isn't an ISV so no big modules built. We have that challenge of only access to Tier 1 (onebox, cloud hosted, download VM) environments with SQL Server 2016 and all on one. The only time we've hit an issue thus far was that an integration didn't work properly when moving to Tier 2 as there was a slightly different version of TLS, if I recall correctly. A colleague of mine was involved in that one I only heard about it in a lessons learned type chat.
We are currently trying to work out how as a partner we can get a Tier 2 environment, so we can easily use all tools as per the customer, I will post back here if we have any progress.
