Differences between the companies

Hi All,

I have an AX 2012 R3 CU8 environment with multiple legal entities, in this environment we have setup 2 companies with the same configuration (or at least I think is the same configuration) in almost everything but one of this companies seems to be working "different".

We’re still looking into the differences between the two companies.

From what we’ve seen so far, it’s the tracking dimension assigned to serialized items in COMP1 that is causing shipping and item creation issues. Even though the tracking dimensions look to be configured similarly for both companies in the UI, it is behaving differently when transacting inventory. For example, items with SETUP1 tracking dimension in COMP1 will require serial numbers to be in OnHand inventory before you can select them for Sales Order Picking. In COMP2, it does not require this (And looks like we have the same setup between companies).

Because we’re seeing differences in behavior in the tracking dimension, which is one of the key basis for controlling inventory transactions, it is a large cause for concern.

Right now I am trying to research a way were I can see/compare all the basic configurations between companies, I want to see if the configuration is the same, if we have probably bad records in the SQL, or anything that could be causing this issues, we need to identify the difference/source of the issues in COMP1.

Any help on how to acomplish this will be much appreciated.

Take a look at this. You may need to add a line or two to include crosscompany in the query, to be able to compare the parameter values by RecId.

Your only other option would be to get an SQL DBA or someone with fluent Transact-SQL knowledge, to put together a SQL script, which can compare records in a bunch of tables excluding specific fields (like created date, recversion, etc.).

    Hi Alberto,

It would be difficult to say where your difference might be. If tracking dimension groups are shared data. Did you select SETUP1 in both legal entities?

Are you using warehouse management features or not? What steps are you performing for the picking process?

    Hi Vilmos,

Thanks for your reply, I will take a look to the query to compare records... Also, is there any difference between write a query to compare records or use the compare records functionallity of the data import export famweorks?

    Hi André,

Yes we are using warehouse management features. For the pick process we are using some the picking list registration in the inventory management module (Actually having errors when we register the serial numbers in there).

And no, I did not select SETUP1 in the legal entities, actually I am not familiar with that select SETUP1...

    Hi Alberto,

For some reason you mentioned 'SETUP1' in your replies. As you are not aware what it is now, you are confusing me. Do you have a partner or consultant helped you with the setup of your environment? I do think it would be the best to have someone on-site to find the difference in setup for you.
