AX 2012 upgrade to AX 7

Hello, everyone!

I'm trying to understand the process of upgrading from ax 2012 to ax 7.

Now i'm investigating this article: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/dynamics365/unified-operations/dev-itpro/migration-upgrade/upgrade-overview-2012.

My question is next - could you provide some more sources of information? Or maybe this article is enough?

Maybe there is someone who already made upgrading, and could provide some tips to avoid pitfalls?

Thank you!

I would say that 1 article is enough and the process differs greatly depending on a solution.

    - Generally, you upload your existing code to LCS and it generates D365 environment with new packages|models

    - But the resulting code is usually consists of a ton of compilation issues, so general approach is just to comment them as is, until you can compile you silution

    - After that, you decide how to uncomment and fix issues.

But that is super-general, I have experienced some projects were it was easier to re-design solution from the start, because it was beneficial to diversify it across multiple models.

I have also seen a project were all EDTs, Enums, Tables, SourceCode were transferred, but UI was built from a scratch

And also I have seen a couple of examples of the approach described above that went quite well.

best i would say, login to LCS with your designated credentails and create one project by selecting 'MIGRATE AND CREATE DYNAMICS 365 FOR OPERATIONS SOLUTIONS' as methodology.

when you do this and navigate to this newly created project, there would be alot of resources to go thru and understand the code upgrade process completely.
