FRx 6.0 exporting to excel

this might be a bit of a long shot but... I've come across an old system using FRx 6.0 and Excel 2000, which was working fine. They then upgraded Office to 2010 and now FRx is unable to export the reports to Excel (using Excel via OLE) - no errors, it just can't create the file. It can export a flat file but not a file with multiple worksheets. I put this down to either some security setting in Excel or the versions simply not being compatible. Can anyone say for definite if this is a compatibility issue?

thanks

32-bit to 64-bit conversion probably the culprit. Unfortunately, this is not just an FRx issue. I came across the same problem with Management Reporter trying to use the Outlook connector between 32 and 64 bit setups. Management Reporter does not have a 32-bit option that I know of, but you may be able to get around the problem by trying the Office 32-bit version of 2010.

hi, thanks for the reply. Unfortunately both Office and Windows (XP) are the 32-bit versions so I don't think that this is the issue

Do you have the old install media for Excel 2000? I believe you can have both versions installed at the same time.I would try to install the old version or upgrade FRx 6.0 to FRx 6.7 SP12. Make sure you export out the entire spec set before doing anything. That way you can import them back if they fail to upgrade. What version of GP are they using?

Thanks Richard, I think I will try installing Excel 2000 alongside 2010 and see if that works.

    Hello,

Thanks for the good input from the community!

Are there any errors in the Event Viewer?

FRx 6.0 hasn't been supported for several years, so it's likely something with the incompatible versions with Office / Excel. I'd agree that using an older version of Excel may be the best route... or upgrading to FRx 6.7 as suggested earlier.

thanks for the good advice, everyone.  I did check Event Viewer but there are no errors in there relating to this. I'll update the thread when it gets resolved

    thanks

ok, as expected reverting back to the older version of Excel has resolved the problem.

    thanks for the advice
