Posted on by 2
Hello Experts,
Thank you for your time and assistance in advance. We're facing an issue with our Product Bundle configuration:Current Behavior:
When adding a Product Bundle with a quantity of 10, the system displays:
  • Bundle Item Quantity: 10
  • Each Bundle Line Item Quantity: 1
Expected Behavior:
When adding a Product Bundle with a quantity of 10, we want to see:
  • Bundle Item Quantity: 10
  • Each Bundle Line Item Quantity: 10
We need your help to resolve this discrepancy in how bundle quantities are reflected in our system. Your insights on how to achieve the expected behavior would be greatly appreciated.

Bundle QTY is not reflecting to Bundle Products
Thanks, Daivat for your detailed explanation.  Very helpful.  I think we will go ahead with the custom plugin to iterate through the bundled products.  Our current implementation of D365 is simpler than a full-scale deployment. We're not utilizing the inventory and order management features, which significantly reduce complexity.

    Thank you for your time.

Bundle QTY is not reflecting to Bundle Products
    Hello Nagesh,

The discrepancy you're observing in the product bundle quantity behavior is likely due to the inherent nature of product bundles in Dynamics 365. When you add a bundle to an opportunity or order, the system typically treats it as a single unit. This means that even if you specify a quantity of 10 for the bundle, the individual components within the bundle will still have a quantity of 1.

    Possible Workarounds
While there's no direct configuration to achieve the exact behavior you desire, here are some potential workarounds:
    1. Custom Workflow or Plugin
Create a custom workflow or plugin that triggers when a product bundle is added or modified.
The workflow or plugin can then iterate through the bundle's components and update their quantities based on the bundle quantity.
    1. Product Configuration
Consider using product configuration to create more complex product bundles with variable quantities. This approach might be more suitable for scenarios where you need to customize the bundle components based on specific customer requirements.
    1. Third-Party Solutions
Explore third-party solutions or extensions that offer advanced product configuration and bundling capabilities. These solutions might provide more flexibility and control over the behavior of product bundles.

    Important Considerations
    • Pricing and Discounts: Ensure that your pricing and discounting strategies are configured correctly for product bundles, especially when dealing with varying quantities.
    • Inventory Management: If you're managing inventory for bundle components, consider how the system will handle stock levels when bundles are sold.
    • Order Fulfillment: Plan for the fulfillment process, as you might need to consider how to package and ship multiple units of each bundle component.
    • By carefully considering these factors and implementing the appropriate solution, you can address the product bundle quantity issue and achieve the desired behavior in your Dynamics 365 environment.
