User switching from one company to the next receives password change message

Posted on by 505

Hello,

I have a customer who has created a new test company.  They have a single user who is experiencing the following issue.

When the user is in the live company and attempts to switch to the test company the user receives the following warning message.

'You must change your password before changing companies.'

The user does not receive this message when signing into either company from the GP launch icon.

I have confirmed that the user does not have the 'Change password next login' checked under the User set up window>Advanced SQL Server options.  The user does have the Enforce password policy and Enforce password expiration checked.

As a test, I had the customer uncheck the Enforce Password Policy and had the user switch companies.  The user still received the warning message with the Enforce Password Policy unchecked.

Please let me know if you have experienced this same issue and if you found a solution.

Thank you for your time.

Thanks for the update. The user master table is the SY01400 but we do not recommend just changing information in SQL as there are more tables that come into play. Unfortunately I am out of ideas as I would have to stream into their system and see what is going on. You could always delete the user within GP and create the user again otherwise I would have to recommend opening a support request to look into this further.

Thank you for the suggestions.  Unfortunately, unchecking the enforce password option and changing the user password did not resolve this issue.

Is there a table in the Dynamics DB I can check to see if there is corrupt data.  Are there any other options/suggestions that may help resolve this situation.

I have thought about asking the user to delete the user having the issue and re add there user and user security.

Let me know what you think and thank you for your time.

As SOMA noted try unchecking and then change the password. Remember that these options are coming from AD so depending on those settings a user could be getting a prompt like this depending on when their password was last changed.

Enter new password for this user with the option of uncheck Enforce Policy and Change Password Next Login. Then try again.

    Hope this helps!!!
