Giving permission to developer to edit the code

Hi all,

Is there any way that only those developer for which access is granted, can modify the code in the IDE of AX, or customize any element, regardless of having role as System admin?

if they don't have access they can just read the codes and for them editor scripts will look grey and disable as it looks when activate the version control before check in. and it also won't change the version control parameter. it should look disable to them if not having appropriate permission.

Regards,

Pankaj Kumar

    Hi Pankaj,

no, the SysAdmin has write permissions in development and there is no way in AX2012 to distinguish this better.

There is no "read only" option for dev code, so to say.

    Regards,

    Annette

PS: If you SysAdmins don't want to read code but only do setup, you can define security roles that cover their tasks.

    Hi,

Please check this blog, which has clear explanation about restricting development access through a custom approach:

Version control is helping me as i expected, but it is open for all developer to enable and disable the parameter, so those developer which are novice in AX-12, can bypass the version control and write the code. so that so many unwanted code and customization affect the performance for the system,  I just want to make sure that, is there any way that we can assign those developer who is actually working on the system and who are not can see the code in non -editable mode only.
