Manage Inventory For Pre-sales Kit s(like DNA kits) When Analyzing the Kit

Hi experts

in really small part of our company we sell some test kit (for comparison imagine those DNA test kit but this is not DNA test kit). When anyone send us the result we need to consume some lab materials to finish some tests and report back.

My challenge is how to handle the material consumption after receiving the kit. We cannot create SO for it since we already collected the money (they are pre-sale). If I create production order to consume those materials then I will end up with finished good and need to take them out through item journal. I cannot make those items none-inventory since we use them in other part of business.

What is your suggestion here?

    Thanks DAnny3211

I read those article before. But in this specific case it does not help at all. I more interested to know "workaround" or possible "business process" or "system process" to manage this specific case.

    Thanks

Hi, Generally, in this case, we will use the Item Journals to directly adjust the inventory, and manage the reasons in Reason Code, such as consumption, internal use, testing, etc.

    Hope this helps.

    Thansk.

    Thanks Mr Zhu

That is what we do today. But I wondered if any OOTB or 'business process" can be defined here to work better.

    Thanks
