Drop Shipment- changing shipping address after creation of PO

  •         In Drop shipment orders, currently, if the supplier ships the order to the wrong address, the entire PO needs to be deleted and a new one created to make a correction. This becomes a lengthy process.

  • Is there any other standard way to correct the address of shipment?

  • If not, then can we customize to allow user to un-check the drop-shipment box on the sales order to unlink the purchase order and once the user unchecks the box, they should be able to change the shipping address on the purchase order and create reservation entries against the PO from the sales order.

  • Or is there easier way to customize this functionality?

    Hi,
     
    Just tried out a few options here and I don't believe there is any standard way to update this without development.  You could put in place some custom code that when the shipment address is updated on a sales order there is a check to change the address on the purchase order.  However, when you do that then you may need to be careful as you would need to reopen the purchase order to change this address.
    this could be an issue if you are using approvals and when the purchase order is updated you may want to send an updated purchase order to the supplier so that they are aware of the change of address.

    Hi, This is standard behavior, you can try the following method.
    Dynamics 365 Business Central: Can we skip/ignore field validation errors?
     
    Or create a Purchase Order without using the Drop Shiment function.
    But this is the same as a normal order and needs to be posted separately.

    If I try to do this with development then, following questions I am not able to answer:
    1. If the user makes changes on Sales Order to update address, apart from Purchase Order document which table or documents needs to be updated? Do the shipment documents also need to be changed?
    2. Will there be no effect on other process by making above changes?
