Good Morning,
Easy question - Can anyone tell me what process manager is and when i need to use it?

Process Manager has many uses within the Inventory, Purchasing & Order Mgmt modules. Among other things, it manages the creation of Shippers from Sales Orders, updates Inventory Availability calculations, can auto print certain OM reports, etc. I would suggest reviewing the Order Management manual for more complete details on its functionality.
If using Order Management it should always be running or run when you are processing orders. I leave it running all the time.
It is like a co worker who is watching your orders, your inventory and it tries to clear orders based on your inventory levels. Every time an inventory batch is released and at certain intervals it tries to create shippers(pick tickets) for your orders based on inventory levels.
Like stated it can do a lot of things depending on your order type steps. The order steps basically tell process manager what to do with the various order types.
