A SQL login with this user name already exists

After I upgrade GP7.5 to GP2010, I go to the User Setup windows to check the user ID, and some of the user id that is missing, while I want to create the same user ID again, it pop out a message "A SQL login with this user name already exists. Choose a different user name." How to solve it?

    Did you copy the GP databases from one server to another? Try going into SQL and look a the logins for each company, DYNAMICS and SQL itself. If you do not see these users in GP, then manually delete them in SQL and try again. Somehow your users in GP are out of sync with those in SQL.

    You need to check in two places in Management Studio;

    <ol><li>Security >> Logins</li>

    <li>Databases >> (DYNAMICS and each company database >> Security >> Users)</li></ol>

    Delete the users you want to recreate (make sure they are gone from both the main Security and also each database) and you should then be able to recreate them).

    Ian is correct. We are not talking tables here were are talking databases. Go into SSMS and delete the users under the security tab for each compnay, DYNAMICS and system. If you search the internet for Capture Logins Script GP you will find a script you can use to capture the logins from your old server to the new server. KB878449 has a link to this script.
