Marketing Email Designer Behavior

Hello,

I'm building email templates and I've noticed a behavior involving personalisations when a template is saved.

As context, on the preview it appears like this:
But in the designer it looks like this [without the Hi and the comma (,)]. Only the lines with personalisation look appear like this that remove the other characters in the sentence.

I'm not sure if this is a normal since I tried it on two different environments and they behaved the same.
Would appreciate your thoughts on this and would be grateful for your help. Thanks!
I have the same question (0)

Hi - I think you're seeing the default text in preview mode. You can see what this is set to under Personalize > Dynamic Text > then click on your variable:

    Hi @jwcpc

Yep I’m seeing the default value on the preview which is correct. My issue is with the designer that only displays {{FullName}} which is supposed to show ‘Hi {{FullName}}’ on save instead. I only encountered this for the first time today and haven’t been making emails recently so I’m not sure if there were updates or this is a bug.

Ah right, yes - my experience is that the email editor is incredibly buggy, especially when using these tokens. I have had cases where I remove the token but it remains in preview. I usually end up going into the HTML to resolve.

1 of many many reasons why we're currently looking to move to Hubspot.

    Hello great community,

    First time poster here!
    I'm having the same problem.
    To reproduce:
Type a text, then add a personalization (on the same line).
    Save it, close the email.
Open the email again, all the text on the same line as the personalization has disappeared.
The default value is not empty, and I see the same thing in preview mode.
    Need help to resolve this!
    Thanks,

I have raised a ticket with Microsoft for the very same issue. Started last week and now all emails are affected, The workaround I have found is to go into the HTML and make sure the normal text is outside of the span for the personalised content tag/field. It will then display in the designer and wont get wiped out if you save it. It is a massive pain for editing existing emails as it strips everything by default, even though the content is there in the HTML.
