Cannot get past browsing file when trying to import csv file. the download log file is disabled. The csv file column names are the same as the field attribute names.
just cannot et past step one when browsing import csv file and hitting next button.
the error just says error.

Crm is intelligent enough to map lookup fields with either guid or name. Here in your case parent customer id you can have guid of referenced entity or NAME ( you can check the primary attribute for any entity using entity customization window ). Keep data empty (not null) if you don't want to associate parent customer id to lookup field.

Hi David,
If its a Contact record you are referring to, then Parent Customer is the field on Contact form that is linked with Account entity. If you can help me with a screenshot of the error, it would be much more helpful.

thanks for the answer the error turned out to be nulls in the some of the fields. I have another question though if you do not mind.
I have data that I tried to load into the contacts entity but it keeps asking for the customer field. after investigating I sort of think the issue might be in my understanding of how the crm treats linked entities such as Acount and Contacts.
is not Customer just a display name for the lookup link and exactly what fields does this link try to map from contacts to Account? I realise that the way the crm does entity mapping is via looking up the data matches ie company names etc but exactly what fields is it trying to match in contacts to in Account

Also, what is the exact error you see on the UI? Do you get a 'Download log file' button on the error? If yes then what is the error message in the log file?

Hello David,
Is it an issue with all the users? Did you try importing the file from another machine? For testing and to narrow down your issue, try exporting an Account Import template file from CRM. Add 2-3 records in it (update the file with mandatory fields only). Save the xml file and now import it into CRM. Does it still give you an error while importing?

It could either be the Security Roles issue or the IE Issue.
Ensure you have provided adequate permissions for the Data Import, Import Source File, Data Map entities (on Core Records tab of Security Roles screen) and Import Job entity (on Customization Tab of the Security Role screen).
Also try loading CRM from IE Compatibility Mode.
