How to generate a direct link to a released product from outside of dynamics?

Hello

Scenario
We have an application outside Dynamics Fincance and Operations,  that is working with item numbers, from the /Released Products/ entity.  Frequently users need to access the item's information within Dynamics.

Problem
If a user is looking for information on a released product, he/she is forced to look for in manually within dyanmics. There is no direct link.

Question
  1. Is there a way to create links outside of Dynamics, that link directly to a released product?
  2. If not....   which technology like Rest API, Custom PowerApps or whatever would be a way to achieve that?
Thank you :)
I have the same question (0)

    Hi,

    1. I don't think so because the user must have access to D365FO
    2. yes you have several solutions (I think you can get the information from d365 using API and data entities)

    Hi,

I'm not sure what do you mean by they need to look manually. There is a quick way to go to the released product page by copying the link from here

unless you mean you want to retrieve the item information directly. In this case you can use different options (based on how frequently you will do that and other factors). For example you use oData to filter on the item and it will return to you all details needed about the product (I think the entity name is EcoResReleasedProductV2Entity)

    Thanks,
    Layan Jweihan

    @layan @mohamed

I try to avoid fetching data as well. We already do that if it is absolutely necessary and helps to speed up the workflow. But in this case a link would suffice, and grant access to everything related to the item.

A link would be best as everybody has access to D365FO.

    Questions
    How about this link.
    1. Can this link be fetched from some data entity?
    2. Can this link be fetched through any technology? REST Api?

    :)  blu

    Hi e.soul,

It is possible to generate the link using a data entity. This will require a customization. To know what to do, you can reverse engineer the current Get a link feature. I have done it before at my previous company, but we decided not to use it later on. It requires code execution per data entity row which will slow down the performance. You can also consider creating your own web-service in F&O that you can call by sending the company and item number. Then at that moment generate the link on the fly that will then open the item details. That will bypass the need to create a link for all items during export.
