D365 BUS FULL ACCESS vs SUPER

Posted on by 45

Hello,

I am unable to find any documentation on the differences between the permission sets D365 BUS FULL ACCESS and SUPER.  Does anyone know where to find a listing of the differences?  I am wondering if the only difference is really the user management capabilities or if there is something else as well.

Thank you,

Matt

Hi, Several experts above have explained it very clearly, I just add a Microsoft document for the Super permission set, I hope this can also help you.

    https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/dynamics365/business-central/dev-itpro/administration/administration-special-permission-sets

    Permission set Definition
SUPER Can read, use, update, and delete all data and all application objects in the scope of your license. Business Central requires that at least one user is assigned this permission set in each database.

The first user created is automatically assigned the SUPER Permission Set

You can't modify permissions for the SUPER permission set.

    Thanks.

    Hi,

I agree with other members and would like to add below points.

    1. D365 BUS FULL ACCESS has the permissions of the Base and System objects whereas SUPER has access  to entire objects, no matter Objects belongs to Base/System/PTE/Apps etc. based on Company Parameter when you assigned to the users.

    2. D365 BUS FULL ACCESS  has Indirect permission to all Ledger/Posting tables whereas SUPER has Direct.

    Hi There

As answered already I am just elaborating on how you find the detailed permission set for any role

Go to the Users search option and look for Navigate> Permission sets

Search for your role and click on Permissions

    pastedimage1652548725497v3.png

Then you can see the list as below and in that find out what permissions that role has for Read, insert, Modify, delete, execute and a security filter

Hope that helped let me know

So to be a true administrator of the database you require super
