Auto Counter Configuration, Business Process Error

Hi, I am relatively new to Dynamics but I have administered other CRMs in the past. I am trying to create a field that auto populates with a sequential number. For example in Contacts want to have the Contact ID field auto populate with a number. I have installed a third party auto counter extension but when I try to create a new counter configuration, I get the error, "entity Contacts doesn't exist." See links below for details. What am I missing? Clearly the contact entity exists since its part of the CRM. Your guidance is greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Yes, you can set it to "read only". Go to customizations(or solutions if you're using them)>Customize the System> open contact entity and then main form.

Then click on your field(contact id)>change properties> check Field is read only:

Thank you Lema. It worked perfectly. One more question for you. After the contact is saved and the number is populated, how can I prevent it from being changed or lock the field down?

    Hi lankings27,

Try to use schema names for both your entity and field e.g. Entity name: contact, Field name: schema name for your field.
