Can't add an Organization in the CRM Outlook client - The given key was not present in the dictionary

The CRM Outlook client suddenly stopped working. I uninstalled and re-installed the client, but when trying to add my organisation, it's giving an error - 'The given key was not present in the dictionary'.

I have seen many posts which refer to custom plugins variables, but I do not have any custom plugins. The CRM Outlook plugin itself is not getting configured.

See error message screenshot below.

Dominic.

    Hi Prashant,

    Thanks for your reply.

Although we are on O365 and CRM Online 2016, I've tried 2 of the resolutions from your posts, but none worked for me. I removed all the windows stored passwords and also checked on the date & time config, but no luck. Victoria just entered into DST last Sunday and I thought maybe that caused the issue, but the same error persists. The other resolutions do not apply to my current configuration.

This worked fine just last week. :(

    Regards,

    Dominic.

    Hey Dominic,

I apologize for the delay in getting back to you as you caught me in a role change and spent much time traveling.  Glad to see that you go this one fixed. I understand that you may no longer need guidance here but thought I would chime in since I've now seen it.

The issue you were facing here is around the client metadata.  If you look midway in the stack trace of the screenshot, it shows that it's hitting a method called DiffSync.  This would indicate that you have metadata already loaded on your workstation and that during the configuration process, it's trying to to pull metadata from the server and compare it to what's local.  During that process, it fails when trying to correlate objects within the dictionary of objects for entities and attributes.

The resolution was, most likely, clearing out the MetadataCache-OrgGUID.sdf file found in the following location:

    %userprofile%\Appdata\Local\Microsoft\MSCRM\Client

Apologies for not getting back to you sooner.  Hope this may help others out down the road.

    Thanks,

    Josh

    Hi Josh,

Thanks for your reply and probably your solution will help someone else in the future who can avoid the pain I went through.

    Many thanks,

    Dominic.
