Sales Line Reservation - Posting warehouse shipment

Does anyone have a link or document that has comprehensive details on how to set up automatic reserve on sales lines? There doesn't seem to be much detail on docs.microsoft.com or other searching.  I set the reserve field to 'always' on the item card. I created a sales line and it automatically reserved inventory. I'm wondering if there is anything else to this or if are nuances involved because when I try to post warehouse shipment after registering the pick,  it says "Number of Source documents posted: 0 out of a total of 1. Some ship lines remain". I never saw that message before. I set up a straightforward scenario so I'm wondering if somehow the reservation is involved here. I tried a different item without the reserve set up and the same location and the shipment posted as usual.

Thanks in advance for any ideas on what I'm missing.

There are reserve settings on the customer. But reservations do not automatically populate the quantity to ship...Can you verify that you have a values in quantity to ship?

Hi, yes, qty to ship is populated on the warehouse shipment and also on the SO.

    Hi.

There can be many reasons why your warehouse shipment lines cannot be shipped.

Assuming that you don't have Require Pick enabled and that, as Kim correctly suggested, you have Qty to ship populated in the warehouse shipment line, I would check the following:

    - Check that Item Tracking is not enabled for the item you want to ship. If yes, you need to add either a Lot number or a Serial number in the item tracking line before you can post

    - Ensure you have enough availability to ship the item.

    - If you use Bins, check that the shipment Bin on the warehouse shipment header is set up as a shipment bin and that you have availability in the bin on the warehouse shipment line.

On the warehouse setup there is a setup field called "Shipment Posting Policy", set the value to "Stop and Show First Posting Error" that should give the error message why it not posting the order.
