Is there a way for a user to setup a default printer for themselves?
What code would find that default printer and use it?
Hi,
Are you using AX / D365? Please let us know the version. The default printer is usually dependent on the system it is being accessed from and the default printer set there. What is your exact requirement here?
Question is related to D365FO. We're using the latest version of AX.
I'm being asked to use the default printer, setup by the user, to print some reports to. I don't see anything in user options in D365FO.
Plus, how do I find it in X++?
I don't think there is any OOB feature for default printer, but you can do some customization to achieve this.
Please check this post. Should give you an idea.
Yes, you can check the official documentation at https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/dynamics365/fin-ops-core/dev-itpro/analytics/install-document-routing-agent.
Hi NoDozing2,
There is no possibility out of the box to set the default printer for a business user. It defintely requires customization.
Simply go to Printers and Computers if it's built on the server. Go to the device's properties, choose the advanced page, and then printing defaults at the bottom.
Alternatively, go to the device's web page and set it up from there.
We have our printers deployed via GPO, with a centralized one set as the default for each department when they receive their printers. Our users can change their default settings anytime they want, and we've given instructions on how to do so.
