Sell up to X of one item for a flat price, with additional cost for each added item?

Posted on by Microsoft Employee

Customer has an item set up for when people rent his place of business for birthday parties. How he wants to set it up is to charge $200 for up to 8 kids, and $25 for each kid after that and he wants to use one PLU for it. Is there any way to do this? I tried buydown pricing but he wants each sale to reflect the number of kids attending.

This is tough. The only way I can think to accomplish this would be to create a trigger and rule. shoot me an email if you would like to discuss this.

That doesn't help because they want the # of children reflected in the sales. If there's less than 8 then it won't have that information.

Set the price for the item at $200 and call it an 8 child party. For qty 9,10,11,12 etc set the price to $25. This may not be ideal as the first 8 would show up as a single unit.

I can't figure out any way to do it through the quantity discount table.

You may be able to accomplish this using the qty discount table
