Bulk update records

Hello,

I have found out how to bulk import contacts and also how to bulk delete contacts in Dynamics Marketing CDS. But I'm still strugling how to bulk update contacts...

Case : I have imported 5000 contacts. I now have a separate excel list with 400 of these contacts for which I would like to put the field 'donotemail' to TRUE.

Through Powerapps it seems that I only can import records and not update them. From the marketing program I can use Excel online to manually editing records. Also from the marketing program I can export data in Excel but I don't know how to re-import it after I changed it....

So I think I'm missing something here....

Thanks for any help.

Peter

    Hi Peter,

The only way of updating records in CDS is by exporting the contacts, make the modifications to the exported excel file then re-import them. CDS use the GUID which is in a hidden column to determine which contact to update. You'll have to:

    1. Create a personal view with the columns you which to update
    2. Export it
    3. Update the records without deleting columns or renaming headers
    4. Re-import it

You would probably have to use VLOOKUP to do a reconciliation between both of your excel files.

    Hope it helps.

    Hi Samuel,

Thanks for your response. The problem is : I can export in XLS format but I only can import in CSV. I would expect that I could export xls, change info and then import it back....

    Hi Peter,

Actually if you click on the Import from excel button (Not the down arrow), you will be able to import from an excel file directly.
