In General ledger you can select Cost Center for the ledger account:

General ledger > Setup > Chart of accounts > configure account structures

    yes it is possible !!

I can set it up and it works but when I create general journal entries it doesn't allow me select other cost centers for that account. Any idea?

    Hi s3rg,

Can you please paste the screen shot, how you set up your account structures, so that someone can suggest a possible solution?

    Thanks,

    Baber.

I started from scratch and ran a few tests.

    1. Selected a default cost center dimension in main accounts under financial dimensions fast tab (img1) and set it to NOT FIXED so users can override it if necessary (FIXED works but users cannot change it).
    2. Reset account structure to be very basic
    3. Configure account structures >Advanced rule ... made sure there are no rules for my account. I also tried setting advanced rules for company, cost center and product group for all values with blank (img3)
    4. Also verified that Released product form had no Cost center defaults under  Financial dimensions (img4)
    5. I also tried configuring account structure and advanced rules not to allow blank cost center for my account but kept getting an error that account structure was invalid since it had a blank cost center dimension when I generated invoices (error1).

    Any ideas?

    Hi,

I assume you created a sales order to invoice? In that case only the option 'fixed' works at the main account setting. If it is not fixed and the dimension is not allowing blank values, you have to select the dimension on sales orders manually. You can set a default on the customer master.

The default is only working on financial journals when you use the main account directly.
