Item Card - Description

Posted on by 100

Hello,

I am trying to increase the length of the description field in Nav (under item card) but I do know that the description on item card gets used/mapped to other tables too. Does someone know all the tables that it reflects it to as I'll have to change the character length there too.

Thank you

    Hi

    as my colleagues above say

it is not advisable to change the lengths of standard fields

so I advise you to create new fields and manage those in your flows

I would also not recommend to extend the length of the standard field. In the end, you can of course identify all the other tables and fields where it is populated (but it might be a painful process and risky), but there are also report layouts (like invoice) which might be messed, as well as the search by name option will degrade in performance quite soon. As others have said, it will also cause future updates and upgrades difficulties.

Hi, personally, I do not recommend modifying the standard field length, which will cause trouble in future upgrades. And the existing fields are connected to a lot of different places. This can cause a lot of errors that you can't imagine.
You should add a new field.

    Hope this helps.

    Thanks.

    Hi Daniele,

I increased the field length on tables but I'm still getting an error when trying to add an item with a longer description to a PO. Would you know why?

This helps, Thank you Daniele. I guess it would also reflect the firm planned orders/production orders etc

    Hi

    certainly reflected in the tables:

    37,39,113,115,111,121,123,125,32

    there may be others

check my answer if it helped you, thanks
