CRM: Is there a way to copy Production environment without data?

Hello,

I was trying to restore Production's backup to our DEV environment to make both environments identical. But client doesn't want all real data go to other environments. so is there a way to only copy production's configuration without real data to other environments? or is there any other alternative way to meet our needs?

Thanks.

You could export a solution that holds all customizations, workflows, business rules etc and system settings.

    msdn.microsoft.com/.../gg334495.aspx

Import it back in your other environments.

After publishing it should hold all configuration.

If you need some setup records as well you could build a deployment package.

I know this is one way to do the thing. sometimes we think everything already in the solution or the package, but it always could miss something. is there a way to guarantee everything being included. Two environments can be identical.

You could also restore the production environment to a development one and bulk delete your data?

(Depending on how many entities you have this shouldn't take that long, although it would require a manual action for every entity.)

Otherwise after importing all customisations you could export the default one of your dev and the one from production and compare the xml via something like araxis merge?

I would restore a backup of the production. Then, I would run a truncate table on every data tables. Account, Opportunity, Activity Pointers, ...

Not the best way of doing it but you could just export the default solution and import it into your DEV instance
