Login Failed DYNAMICS GP Client via ODBC SQL Server Client

I am installing MS-DYNAMICS GP 10.0 client via ODBC using SQL Server Client Connection. This connection works using the SA user and it works flawlessly.

My version of DB is MS-SQL Server Standard Edition 2005.

We created the DYMAMICS GP user and granted all required permissions (public role, Access to Dynamics and Master SQL server Data Base) and its respective password, but as soon as we start the client installation and configuration and right at the moment of logging in GP, the GP utilities start running but it stops and report the following error:

"Your attempt to log in to the server failed because an unknown error occurred when the user ID and Password were being verified. Attempt to login again".

We are certain that the user and password are correct, as we have successfully been able to log in to the application directly from the server. So, if I do it from the server the log on works, but doing it from the client the error pops up.

What can I do?

Regards,

 Lewis Almonte Hdez.

     Hello Mayra:

I have MS- Windows XP 2002 Service Pack 3.

After this configuration, the connection to run the GP Utilities continue failed with the other users create on GP.

Question: The password on GP is the same password on MS- SQL Server Database ?

     Regards,

     Lewis

Are you using a 64 or 32-bit machine? The ODBC drivers are different when working with GP.

     Hello Lewis,

     Please confirm the following:

1.- Run SQL server management studio express>

    server type= database engine

    Server name: XXXXX\SQLEXPRESS

    Authentication: SQL Server Authentication

    Login: sa

    Password: xxxxx

If so then the password of sa (system administrator) is the same of the SQL server database

    Please keep me posted

    Hi Lewis,

When you say you created the DYNAMICS GP user - hoe did you create the user? Through SQL or Dynamics GP interface? (Its just that you mention assigning rights and this is done automatically when you create the user through Dynamics - Tools >> Setup >> System >> User)

    Best regards,
