Migrating from GP 2010 to MS D365 BC

Hi All,

We are looking to migrate from GP 2010 to MS Dynamics 365 Business Central online.

However, it appears that migration tools do not work with GP versions below 2015.

We are stuck and unsure how to proceed.

Can someone share some resources which assist in this migration or maybe list out the process and problems with this migration?

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks!

    Rahul,

There used to be a similar tool in the past called "Rapide Migration Tools" from Microsoft which would allow ro import & export data out of GP for migration to/from legacy systems.. it was based on Excel Workbooks and a wizard.. Unfortunately since the decommissioning of Customer Source, these tools are no longer available I believe, though based on the current GP Docs page, it looks like the download link is embedded in the GP Utilities when creating a new company (see link: docs.microsoft.com/.../creating-a-company)

    Hi Gavin,

    Thanks for your response.

I do realize that Rapitstarts can be exported and imported in Business Central, is there any similar functionality that can be used in GP.

A way to get Data out from GP and into Business Central.

We are looking at Migration as the last possible option.

    Hi,

To add to what Richard has already stated something called Rapid Start is the usual way to migrate data into Business Central. You can read more about this here https://docs.microsoft.com/en-gb/dynamics365/business-central/admin-set-up-a-company-with-rapidstart but you basically export templates (packages) and populate them with data and reimport.

I've also written lots of blogs comparing GP to BC functionality which you may find useful on your journey to BC :)  https://thedynamicsexplorer.com/category/gp-vs-bc/

    Hope this helps.

    Thanks

    Gavin

There is no choice. You need to upgrade to GP 2015. If you are current on maintenance you can obtain your registration keys. If you are not you can still upgrade to GP 2015 and then migrate to D365.Check with your reseller on the process. There are other ways of getting data over but upgrading to GP 2015 will get you the most data with the least amount of effort.
