What VM size and configuration shall I choose for Finance & Operations deployment

Hi, my questions are related to cloud hosted environment deployment for Finance & Operations:

1) What is the recommended VM for DEV & for TEST?

2) What disk space configuration shall we choose while deployment? Where shall I see this in the pricing estimate?

3) What is managed disk settings? What happens if we choose none? Where shall I see this in the pricing estimate?

4) Can someone provide a example of Azure pricing estimate for Finance & Operations deployment?

5) When other components are deployed in a Finance & Operations deployment (see image below), how can we estimate the cost?

    Hi,

The below answer is based on my previous experience, pls take it as reference.

    1) What is the recommended VM for DEV & for TEST?

It depends on your demand to have a better performance for development or not. Normally I would use D13 or D12v2 related size for a normal development space.

    2) What disk space configuration shall we choose while deployment? Where shall I see this in the pricing estimate?

It also depends on your need. You can use the standard setting, I think it's fine or if you need to store DB or large file, you might need more storage to avoid storage shortage issue.

    3) What is managed disk settings? What happens if we choose none? Where shall I see this in the pricing estimate?

    You can refer to: docs.microsoft.com/.../what-is-the-difference-between-managed-disk-and-un.html

If you choose none then it can still work but the performance and availability might be a little bit lower.

    4) Can someone provide a example of Azure pricing estimate for Finance & Operations deployment?

    community.dynamics.com/.../cost-of-azure-subscription---what-type-of-vm-is-deployed-for-the-trial

You can refer to this URL for more information.

    5) When other components are deployed in a Finance & Operations deployment (see image below), how can we estimate the cost?

The cost will depends on the number of hour used and type of component created. You can use Azure Cost management to see the cost after a month of real usage and calibrate further.

    docs.microsoft.com/.../cost-management-billing-overview

    azure.microsoft.com/.../

    Hope this will help.

    Hi Shakir,

What disk space configuration shall we choose while deployment? Where shall I see this in the pricing estimate?

For Deve and Test it is recommended to o keep the VM Size to a D13 configuration, but performance wise would recommend keeping the VM Size to a D13 V2 (considering the speed of the VM). Ideally it takes about 6-7 hours for the VM to be up and running.

Looks like you are setting up an On-Premise version of Dynamics 365 finance and operations. You can scale up your Azure Portal once the Azure connector is setup and once the virtual machine has been deployed on the Azure portal on the Azure subscription. You can choose the Virtual machine configuration on the Azure portal explicitly under All services > Compute infrastructure | Disks > Create a managed disk.

Note: You can alter the disk size after the virtual machine is deployed successfully from Dynamics Lifecycle Services to the Azure portal successfully.

    Hope this helps.
