So , you want to make them disappear when the status is closed?

For this you can put your 5 fields you want to hide in separate section and then hide the whole section using code when your status filed changes to close. Or you can hide them one by one by using business rules.

*As long as the fields are mandatory on the form they wont disappear until you apply some business rules or logic via code on them to hide them or display them on particular behavior of your fields.

Follow the link to create business rules.

Please create business rule for this purpose.

It will hide and display fields as well as make them mandatory when they are being displayed.

Or you can write custom javascript code.

Making the fields mandatory from field properties will continue showing the fields for all activity types. As you have made them mandatory on form without any rule/logic.
