Hi,
I am reaching out to seek guidance on the process of changing the environment name and updating the link for the deployed D365 F&SCM environments in LCS (Lifecycle Services). Additionally, I would like to understand if such changes are related to or require altering the domain name.
Thanks
H
Do you absolutely need to change the Company ID or would just updating the Legal entity name work? The latter can be done by just editing the contents of the Name field.
Hi Hisham,
Next to creation of database backups and restore them after a redeployment, you also need to install deployable packages for customizations and ISV solutions. In case you have a new domain with a new telemetry ID (serial number) you probably need to reach out to ISV partners for an updated license to continue working with their solutions.
If there is pending work on development environments, these need to be checked in or shelved in DevOps. After a redeployment, a developer can connect to DevOps and get latest for the source code.
For sure, I would start with replacing some development environments and check if all customizations and ISV solutions are working correctly.
For all Sandbox environments (Non Production), you can export database to bacpac, delete and create new environment. Import the bacpac from LCS environment page. There are certain data like email settings, print management etc that gets cleared and you have to added it again.
For Cloud hosted Dev environments, you can export and import .bak files (SQL server database backup).
Hi Andre,
Thanks for your reply. Firstly, the reason is the company name has been changed officially. secondly, we need to be changed for the all environments.
In case, I will go for Mohit's suggestion how can I manage the backup/restore for each environment.
Kind Regards,
H
Hi Hisham,
What is the reason why you want to change the URL? Are you referring to a production or acceptance environment or development/demo environments?
At least it is not possible to change the URL from a deployed environment. Like Mohit mentioned, you would need to deallocate and create a new VM. Note that URLs created for development/demo environments will always get additional characters next to your provided name. You can't influence that addition.
Hi Hisham, my understanding is that D365 F&SCM environment's name and link cannot be changed. We have to delete and re-deploy with new name. I doubt if there is a way to change URL link of environment.
