Accessing Historical Manual Demand Forecast Entries

I am currently using D365 FO V10.0.24, Update 48.

We have been receiving demand forecasts from our customers over the last two years, and been entering them as manual demand forecast entries as we receive them.

I want to extract the previous forecasts provided by our customers in order to compare them to their actual sales orders, however I have been unable to find where the old manual forecasts are stored.

When I visit 'Demand Forecast Lines' in the Master Planning module, I can only see upcoming forecasts, for which the date has not yet passed. When I look at the 'ForecastSales' table, I am also only able to see upcoming forecasts.

My understanding is that the old forecasts get 'consumed' as sales orders for these items appear in the system, however this means that there is no indication if customers have ordered more than they forecasted as far as I can tell.

Is it possible to find these historical forecasts in D365, and how would I do so?

I have the same question (0)

    Hello Alex,

The manual forecast remains in the "Demand Forecast Line".  Forecast reduction principle is used for calculating the requirement and does not remove forecast lines; its purely mathematical.  It is standard practice to check forecasting accuracy by comparing forecast and realized sales, so these historical forecasts have to be kept.

I can't explain why your are not seeing past forecast entries. I would have thought a filter was applied to the list but it does not explain the empty ForecastSales table.  Forecast line can be deleted, so is it possible that someone might have done some housekeeping and deleted old forecast lines?  Or that the forecasts lines are somehow overwritten by another process? Or that the forecast lines were entered as Supply Forecast Lines?

    Regards,

    Danny
