CRM 2013 reports will not render over IFD - do display over internal URL

We are running CRM 2013 on premise, with SP1 installed. A recent problem was discovered where we cannot see data in any reports (custom or out-of-box) when connected to the IFD URL. The report will open and show the criteria the button to "view report" - however, the report content remains blank. The same reports render very quickly if we use the default (port 5555) URL for CRM. Anyone else seen this?

Do you have the Report Connector installed on the SSRS server? This is required for IFD reports to work.
