Deleting an item from 1700 BOMs

Hi, I have an item that is used in 1700 BOMs. what is the best method to remove the item from all the BOMs without going into BOM by BOM to remove the item? The item is no longer used. Even if that is not possible, if I set the QTY to zero, how do i mass update the QTY to zero? I am surprised that a batch function does not exist where i can rename an item in a BOMs in batch but i cannot delete it.

I am Using AX2012 R1 Feature Pack. Thanks, MD

I suggest you should create a job to delete record from BOMLines table

BOMLines is the table which holds all the BOMs lines details.

Please verify and let me know if you need more details for this

As Nitesh said, you could create a job, but you probably also need to run the BOM calculations again.

I wonder what BOM consist of an Item that can be removed without having impact on the produced item. It will not be replaced by another item?

Do you probably also have pending production orders containing this item?

This is an item that is no longer required and has no pending production orders. I can build a function like Nitesh said but it would be great to include that in AX the process of changing an item is there. Thanks for everyone's input

another possibility is to use the Standard functionality "BomChangeItem" in the WarehouseModul

You say for the "FromArticle" the ToDate = Today  ; and for  the ToArticle the FromDate = 31.12.2154

so it is still in the Bomline, but it is no longer used in the production oder masterplanning.
