Hi, I am new to CRM dynamics so pardon me if the questions is not inline. We have recently set up a new CRm 2016. Now there is business requirement to categorize the account using industry type/industry category/industry sub-category. we have around 20000 accounts. Under current classification we have 11 industry type/ around 70 industry category and 100/ subcategory.

For new classification it would be 5- Industry Type/ 58- Industry category and 160 subcategories.

I am trying to get my head around how the data will be remapped. do we need to do it using SQL/SSSI at db level or there is way to get it done from CRM level ???

Thanks a lot for your time and Help!!

One more quick thing, we have another field dependent on industry type called industry_internal_type for events entity. how would we deal this dependencies?

    1. don't ever write directly to the SQL database in CRM.  You will only cause yourself pain. Only use the API for I/O.

    2. You could export to Excel and map the changes and push back to CRM without any development.  You might be limited to 5k records at a time, but that's still only 4 times.
