Sales Rep per Product Group (and not customer)

Hi

Is it possible to have Sales Rep per Product Group and not per customer in BC? If not what is the best approach here? We will have SO that may have a few product group in it which means multiple sales rep.

Any ISV for this? Or if it is development required what is the approach and in your opinion what is the range of hour (like 10-20 or 50-60 or 100-110)?

Thanks

    Thanks WhatWhyHow

I appreciate it. This is really helpful. I see I may need to create some reports but I think it will work.

    Hi,

Dimensions are very powerful concept, if used properly can solve lots of financial and other reporting problems.

I would say keep the standard out of the box functionality as is between Salesperson and Customer, so that you have a relation between the two (which you will see in "Customer Ledger Entry").

For Items, use dimension, make sure the the "Dimension Code" and "Dimension Value" has the same name/value as the "Salesperson" (which is tied to any "Item Ledger Entry" recoed).

When reporting, you need to tie "Customer Ledger Entry" and "Item Ledger Entry" and filter by "SALESPERSONCODE" in this case "JO"

    Good Luck.

    Hi WhatWhyHow

I really appreciate you for taking time to provide this solution. I really love to use this but my challenge is the sales rep has still connection with customer. Like Sales Rep 1 supports product group A for customers B,C,D  and Sales rep 2 support Product group A for customer X, Y, Z.  Then Sales Rep 3 supports product group C for customer B,C,D . etc

I do not know how to use dimension to behave this way. Any idea here?

    Thanks

    Hi Mr Zhu

Thanks for information here. Looks like we should stay with line and not header.

    Hi

It is hard to give you a quick answer without looking at the business use cases and the reports that are expected by the business user.

I would suggest before jumping into coding, look into Global Dimension and Shortcut Dimension (no doubt you still need to do some customization). I feel that that Business Analyst and System Architect can play a big role here.

    Good Question. Good Luck

Hi, I feel that your needs are different from the standard Sales Person. So it is not recommended to modify the standard function, a new function should be added. Perhaps the Item Attribute function can be substituted.

And on your line, there may be multiple Product Groups, so this field should be added on the lines if customized.

As for the development time, it depends on whether this field only needs to be on the order. If it needs to be on the posted page, Entries page, or report, you should increase the development time appropriately.

Hope this can give you some hints.

    Thanks.

    ZHU

Thanks DAnny3211  what is your recommendation here? Should development be in header level or line or both? If it is in header level how we manage to show multiple sales rep? I mean does BC has a function to show multiple name or it will be multiple sales rep field on header level?
