Timecard report to review submission time

Posted on by Microsoft Employee

We were wondering if there is any type of report we can run to get the actual date and time of when a timecard was submitted?

Thanks,

Chuck

Thanks for the detailed info above.

I think the client was just looking to see if there was a column they could add to the query so thanks for confirming there is not one.  I appreciate the info above in case they want to go in that direction.

Once again, I really appreciate your quick and thorough responses!

    Have a good one,

    Hi Chuck,

The PJLabHdr table distinguishes a regular timecard from a correction in the Le_type field.  It will either be an R or a C.  However, the PJLabHdr table isn't in any of the quick queries that I can see.  You could create a custom view on the PJLabHdr table and add it to the menu.  That won't help you with the detail of the timecard which is what you are seeing in QQ.

If you know how to create a view and add it to the menu, that might be the way to go.  There are instructions in the QQ user guide starting on page 29.  It doesn't tell you how to create a view as that is more of a SQLServer procedure.  There might already be a view on the PJLabHdr table that an existing report uses that you could rename for QQ.

Let me know how else I can assist.  Or maybe it might be easier to add the crtd_datetime field to the Timecard report.

When an employee corrects their timecard it creates another row for that timecard.  Is there a way to only see the final timecard in the quick query?  Sometimes employees correct their timecards numerous times for one period ending date.  I couldn't seem to find a column that would weed out that data.

I'll wait to hear back from you.

    Thanks,

    Chuck

    Hi Chuck,

In the Quick Query Viewer, you can right click on the column headings and select Choose Columns.  The Choose Columns screen appears and you can choose columns from the Available Columns list and add them to the Selected Columns list.  Create Date is near the bottom of the list in the Available Columns list.

In the Quick Query Viewer, I clicked expand and the Type to filter drop down and I don't see a Create Date.

My last 5 choices are G/L account, subaccount, hour total for line, amount total and period.

    Am I missing something?

    Hi Chuck,

It's near the bottom of the list.  They are not necessarily in alphabetical order.

How do you add the Create Date column to the Time Audit Trail Quick Query?

I don't see it listed in the column list.

    Thanks,

    Chuck

    Hi Chuck,

There is the Crtd_DateTime field in PJLabHdr which gives you what you are looking for.  However, it isn't included on any report.  I looked in Quick Query at the Time Audit Trail query and you can add the Create Date column to the query, but there isn't a time included with the date.  Even if you add the Crtd_DateTime field to a report, it will only show the date.  Somehow you would need to separate the time from the date in that field to get it to display properly.  If you happy with just the date, Quick Query would work or you could add the PJlabhdr.Crtd_datetime field to the Timecard report.

Sorry there isn't something ready-made for you.
