A user receives a partial invoice for an asset, the eventual full cost is not know at the time.  The asset is created but not depreciated.  The FA clearing account is posted when the new asset is created.  Additional invoices are received which are to become part of the total asset cost.  The user increases the acquistiion cost but the increase does not post to the FA clearing account so they have to do a manual journal entry to clear.

Have you considered not creating the asset  until all invoices are received?  If that were the case then you could select all the applicable invoices from the FA Purchases table when creating the asset and their would be no need to adjust the Acquisition Cost manually.

Thanks Frank, I have tried such suggestions but no go.  I have now asked the world and will leave it at that.
