When I'm trying to release a batch in Voi Check Entry (030.40.00), the screen sends the message
An unexpected error has occurred while releasing batch 'XXXXXX'

I have seen this when a batch is saved without any checks being entered into the Void Check screen. Verify that there are APDoc/APTran records for the batch.
Carlos, when you get an error like this it typically means that there is an issue with either the APDoc record or the APTran records for the batch such that the batch does not balance. The issue could be one of many different things including the use of a GL account that is inactive or a vendor that is inactive or that the check document in question has an odd status. Unfortunately, I have found the only way to determine the problem is to look at the APDoc and APTran records for the batch as well as the batch record in the Batch table and see if I can find the cause of the issue. This means you have to have access to the SQL query tool and some knowledge of what the APDoc and APTran records should look like. There is (or was) a SQL script (AP_6019_DEBUG.SQL) out there that can be run that simulates the releasing of a batch that may give you some more information. Also, you did not say this was the case but I believe that Dynamics SL will not void a $0.00 check.
