Scheduled Billings - comments - notes - multiline textbox

On Schedule Billings and Revenue Entry Screen (BI.SBE.00) under the billing schedule tab.  I need to be able to make the comment field able to accept multiple lines of input.

 Is this possible?

An alternative was going to be using the notes field to add multiple lines of text and then have it display on the Invoice.  However, getting the notes to map correctly from PJBSDET to PJINVDET and display in Crystal Reports doesn't seem possible.

The comment field from PJBSDET is copied to PJINVDET when doing a Scheduled Billings and Revenue Release.  If there is a way I would like the PJBSDET.NoteID to be copied as well.

Please help

     Hi,

I'm Joe's assistant and I've been working with this issue along with Joe. In response to your question:  I think we tried that and it doesn’t, so it seems that there is no way to do it via any kind of JOIN.  Thanks Toni for your time and help!

Well, then it is probably not possible...

In some cases, SL will populate the invoice with the user fields from the original record... you might try populating the USER1 and USER2 fields with the comments, and then see if the generated invoice detail records have that field populated?

It seems that there are two ways to parse them depending on the value of [system_cd].  When [system_cd]=”BI” we get something like “YYYYMMBInnnnnn<space>xxxxxxxxxx” where YYYYMM seems to be some pre-determined month/year combination (turns out to be [fiscalno]), nnnnnn is some 6 digit id (not sure what it correlates to) and xxxxxxxxx is a 9 or 10 digit number that seems to possibly correlate to PJTran.[detail_num].  I don’t see any obvious indication of a schedule # or line # in them.

can you tell how to parse them?

All entries in the field PJINVDET.IN_ID12 and PJTRANEX.TR_ID12 are all blank in our database.

The entries in the field PJTRANEX.TR_ID11 however are populated and would need parsing to extract the data.

    The plot thickens...

IN_ID12 says it is the "source key" (per the schema)... according to a fellow dealer:

"In_id12 usually ties back to tr_id11 in pjtranex. Then you can follow a wonderful trail from tr_id12 in the same record back to tr_id11 located in its source record, and so on, until you find the originating transaction."

Yes it looks like there is in fact just one PJBSDET record for every PJInvDET, however the fields don’t seem to be able to provide a direct join between the two.

    1. The primary key for PJBSDET consists of [project], [schednbr] and [linenbr]
    2. These don’t match PJInvDet’s primary key, which is the identity field [source_trx_id][project] and [comment] are the only other (non-unique) fields that match both tables.
    3. The only other table that seems like it *could* provide a link is PJTran, where [tr_id30] corresponds to PJInvDet.[source_trx_id] and [detail_num] may correspond to PJBSDET.[linenbr] but the values don’t seem to match.   (Nor is there a schedule number to match with PJBSDET either, which means that the draft number would have to be paired with the schedule number elsewhere.)

The best you can ever do for extra description lines is to add the "USER" fields to the screen, but I don't think there are any for this.

as to gettting to the notes... there is only one PJBSDET record for each PHINVDET, so I would think that the proper join would get you back.  What difficulties are you having?
