Can some explain to me what cause the inventory valuation report and trail balance don not tally. I am getting a difference on one specific inventory posting group. And what would be the best option to troubleshoot and resolve this issue.

In Navision there is one option where you can check the difference i.e Inventory-G/L Reconciliation where you can find actual difference.
Dont know which version you are using but it is available in W1 Version
I removed the filters and run the report again, still the report is blank.
The costing method is average , users have posted transactions using FIFO for two items mistakenly, But the difference is not within the inventory posting group of the FIFO items.

I run the Post Inventory cost to G/L and got a blank report. Any idea ? thanks
Then try to run the Adjust cost batch job and after that run the Post Inventory cost to G/L batch job and check.

I found no direct journal entries posted in the GL Account. Can the problem be because of inventory adjustment of the items?

If Inventory valuation report is not matching with Trial Balance report then kindly check whether any direct journal entry has been passed in Inventory G/L Account.
