Business rule not working

(0) ShareShare
ReportReport
Posted on by

Hello,

I have a very simple business rule on the opportunity entity with the intended result being to update the value of the Actual Revenue field with the same value as has been entered in the Esitmated Value field, the condition to check is that the opportunity status equals WON.

This the business rule:

If Status Equals Won

Set Actual Revenue to Estimated Value

Background information in case it matters, I have a workflow which updates the status of the opportunity to won based on certain fields being completed on a different entity, the workflow works as expected.

Any ideas why the business rule will not work or a better way to achieve what I require?

Thank you

JazB

Make sure you have activated your Business Rule. Can you provide a screen shot of your Rule.

    Thanks,

    Saroj

    Hi,

Check the scope of your business rule. It might be set to "Form" or "ALL forms", in that case business rule will be executed at client side only.

But it looks like you are changing status on server side using workflow, that why not  executing.

    Hi,

To answer Saroj question yes the business rule is activated and the rule itself is exactly as below:

    If Status Equals Won

Set Actual Revenue to Estimated Value

Mahadeo how do I check the scope of the business rule?

    Thanks

    Hey Jaz,

Are "Actual Revenue" and "Estimated Value" both exactly the same type i.e. Currency and have the same D.P settings. I have found that both fields can not be set to read-only via the form editor as Business Rules are basically JavaScript

    Cheers

Are the actual revenue and estimated revenue both actually shown on your opportunity form?

As I don't think the business process flow will be triggered if the fields aren't present on the form.

I suspect this might be the problem as out of the box actual revenue isn't shown on the opportunity form. It is shown in the dialog popup when you close the opportunity as won.

Are you using the out of the box approach to closing an opportunity? As doesn't that default the actual revenue to estimated revenue anyway?

    Hi JazB,

As Mahadeo said You need to check Scope of your BR.

The flow of CRM is JS then BR (Client side)

    Then Plugin and Workflow.

So your BR will trigger first and Then Workflow. While checking BR your condition might not match.

So Change your BR Scope to Entity and Try it.

    Hope it will helps you

    Thanks.
