Hi Guys,

Need one clarification.

1. What is the difference between PO Creation Date and Accounting Date and which date will be consider/ appear as Doc. Date?
2. What is the purpose of Accounting Date?
3. Which action trigger Accounting Date?
4. I have noted in some instance Accounting Date is before and in cases after PO Creation Date, what is the reason for it?

Please Note: I use D365 FO in a trading company, and we do not do any budgeting/ forecasting in it.

Thanks for your quick response.

    Hi,

The creation date is the date when the PO is created.
The accounting date is the date that is considered as the posting date in accounting. Keep in mind, it is not the date when a document is posted but the selected posting date. F.e., you can receive an invoice on April 17th, with a date on the invoice of 15th of April. So you may post it on the 18th of April but select the posting date of 15th of April.

I am just trying to understand where do you have an accounting date on the PO, since the invoice is being posted in accounting, but not the purchase order.

You have also some information here:

    Kind regards, Adis

    Hi @Adis

That is the point, what is the purpose of accounting date in PO since it does not trigger any double entry. Below is my ERP snip for your reference:

And if you see accounting date is 15 days before creation date. What does it mean?

I have read some other post, they are referring it to some kind of budgets/forecasting, but I could not clear my point there.

    Hi,

    It is very simple,

Creation date: This is to have a log when did you raise this PO

Accounting date: This is mostly applicable when you have budget enabled for the PO, so now based on accounting date your that period budget will be checked. E.g. you might create PO in April but you want to account amount in May month budget in that case accounting date can be May month.

    Hope that helps

to be honest, I dont know. However, its not relevant as you dont use budget functions. Also, when you create an invoice out of the PO, the current date is used as posting (accounting) date and not the one from PO.

We never work with the accounting date in the PO. I dont see any relevance, except for budgeting.

    Kind regards, Adis

    Hi,
    This is what CoPilot answers-

    • PO Creation Date: This is the date when the Purchase Order (PO) is created in the system.
    • Accounting Date: This is the date that is considered as the posting date in accounting. It is not necessarily the date when the document is posted but the selected posting date.
    • Document Date: Typically, the PO Creation Date is considered the Document Date, but it can vary based on specific business processes.

    Hi,

The accounting date on the PO header is used for budgeting and encumbrance accounting purposes. In case you are not using budgeting, you can ignore the value in this field.

The accounting date is initialized with the system date. An user can change the date. Also it is possible to change a session date. In that case the date can be different compared to the creation date. You can read more about the session date here: Session date in Microsoft Dynamics AX - Dynamicspedia
