CRM 4.0 upgrade pricing

Posted on by 10

Hey all.

I'm new to the Dynamics universe and have in a long time wanted to play around with it.

So at last I got my hands on a version 4 to start playing around with.

But when I was searching around for the hardware and software requirements did I also step over some posts telling about upgrading from 4.0 to 2016 but nothing about pricing.

So my question is in short what are the pricing plan for upgrading a Dynamics CRM 4.0 server professional?

I got it second hand so I can play a bit around whit it and need to know if it can be upgraded to a 2011 or higher before I invest in the SQL server software.

Okay then I did get it correct.

The thing is that it is a "for fun" project so to get out at pay big money for the software is maybe over the top.

So I think I will stick to CRM 4.0 and SQL 2008 (haven't decided if it should be standard or Enterprise yet) and see were that brings me.

    Any how.

    Thanks for the clarification.

    Hi

If you are using CRM 4.0 it means you already have both Server and Client license.

Please see the details  below on CRM 4.0 license

It means as shown in my previous post, you will have to buy CRM 2011 Server license and  User CAL not volume license

Have a look at approx pricing

But i would recommend you contact Microsoft and explain to them the product you have and you want to upgrade to 2011. They will provide you with the accurate price and they might even give you offers.

To be honest do I not know anything about CRM.

But I do know that software I got my hands on is a CRM 4.0 server professional and the disc is from February 2008.

Also I'm not volume license user.

    I'm a regular private consumer.

    More do I not know.

But as I understand then I need to purchase a new license corresponding to the edition that I will install now that I'm not under any program agreement.

    Correct?

could you please have look at the link below to see what type of licence you need to upgrade to CRM 2011.

Basically you need Server license and user license

Yeah I have seen a lot about the upgrade path and method.

But I have no volume licens agreement do to I'm a private user.

And I got this software second hand and therefore only the software with a software license key.

And normally whit software to private use is there a fee for upgrading from one software to another.

My research have also told me that the 2011 version would be more then enough to my setup.

I run a secondary server on my domain whit srv 2016 datacenter and SharePoint server 2013 foundation.
