Control Access to Business Processes by Security Role in Dynamics 365 not working

(1) ShareShare

Hi all

I am trying to assign access to selected business processes in a Dynamics 365 instance. In the "old days" (last week!), I would do it quite simply (as these instructions explain: http://www.powerobjects.com/2013/12/31/control-access-to-business-processes-security-role/).

If I follow a similar process in Dynamics 365, I get the fancy new process editor but if I click on Enable Security Roles, I get a popup which just lists the security roles but doesn't allow me to act on it.

Note: I have tried following these instructions as well: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/dynamics/crm-customer-center/assign-a-security-role-to-a-business-process.aspx They don't even bring up the popup window.

Has anyone else experienced this? Does anyone have any suggested workaround?

Thanks

David

    Hi David Reinhardt

I think you do not have sufficient permissions to do this task. Please check your security roles? I think it will work for you.

    Thank you

    Hi all

A colleague and I think we may have cracked this. Access to custom business process flows is now just another tab on the Security Roles screen. This wasn't obvious at first, but when we had a slower look, we found it.

From the screenshot above, you can access the security role and set it just as if you had navigated there from settings --> security --> security roles.

    Thanks

    Hi David,

I have the same issue; my user is a Global Admin in Office 365 and is a System Admin in CRM (Dynamics 365 8.2.0.737).

I've been struggling with this for a few days now.  I have found no work-around.

The Business Process Flows are sometimes showing as "available" to switch to -- but, they usually don't show up at the top of the form when selected.  That being said, the problem is somewhat intermittent, because I have colleagues that logged-in with the same username from different locations, for testing purposes, and they can see the Business Process Flows on the form.  They, they log in again later, and cannot get to the same Business Process Flows.

Also, if they log in with different browsers, then sometimes they see specific Business Process Flows and sometimes they don't.

The only one I can always get to work on the Lead entity form is the out-of-the-box "Lead to Sales Opportunity" one.

This is holding up a project I have going on with one client; kind of a big deal.

    Regards,

    Ian
