The best way i know how is to:

    1) Adjust down all inventory down from that Location

    2) Ensure there are no open Warehouse documents for the Location

    3) Run Adjust cost batch job

    4) Set Bin Mandatory and Create bins

    5) Adjust back Inventory into the location with bins

Let me know if it works for you.

    Regards,

    Rebe

If you do it by adjusting inventory down to 0 and then adjust back you potentially change the cost of your inventory and it can result in a gain or loss that you probably do not want. So i would try to avoid that.

Would it be possible to tick "Bin Mandatory" on the location after the Reclass has been posted?

Yes, if not manually you can do it in code as long as you know every item ledger entry with a reaming qty,has is assigned to a bin.

If you want to do it manually you have to move your inventory to another location before you change the setting.

But doing it in code should be risk free as long as you know every open transaction on that location is assigned to a bin.

I agree, the challenge can only come about if the consultant is a Functional one hence i was looking at a no-code method with special attention to unit cost.

There is a function in BC called "Create a Warehouse location"

The feature allows enabling advanced warehousing functionalities in locations with existing inventory.

I explain the process step-by-step in this article on LinkedIn
