Multi-state SUTA processing

Posted on by Microsoft Employee

An employee works in one state hits the SUTA limit then moves to another state.  GP starts over charging SUTA in the new state.  Client is telling that state's exempt employee if they have met SUTA limit in another state.  Can GP handle? How? If not, can any 3rd party's handle?

Thanks,

John

Leslie, what do I do if somebody moves multiple times per year?  How does GP calculate what the "previous state" is?  We are beginning to implement clients who have workers in Virginia, NY, DC, NJ, PA, and they move locations a lot.

    Hi John,

Yes, I believe GP can handle this. When you set up your unemployment tax for the state that behaves this way, check the box to Include: Previous State Wages. See below:

    Kind regards,

    Leslie
