Connect to Source Database- Migration from AX 2009 to AX 2012 R3

Hi All,

I am doing migration from AX 2009 to AX 2012 R3 . I am on "Connect to Source Database" step in the Data Upgrade checklist.

I am not able to connect source database(AX 2009) directly as it is in different domain so I have restored AX 2009 database in my TEST environment. I have installed the AX 2012 R3 ,as per upgradation step in TEST environment and both databases are in same domain.

I have assigned all rights in both Databases(AX 2012 R3 and AX 2009). but when I run the "connect to source database" step , its raise the error "Cannot delete a record in DEL_ReleaseUpdatePartitions (DEL_ReleaseUpdatePartitions).
The corresponding AOS validation failed."

I have also tried to update the USERINFOTABLE manually in AX 2009 database but still not connecting it.

Can anyone tell me I miss something?

Did you try to manually verify what is in the table? Did you try to debug which code in AX raises the error and address the root cause? An AOS validation is typically in the aosValidateDelete() method, take a look at that.

Partition detail is stored in the table .I have degugged the code , it raised the error in the following method name. In the method , it goes to delete record from the DEL_Releaseupdatepartition table and  I checked the  AOSValidateDelete() method is in the table.

    Class name : ReleaseupdateBulkCopyParam

    Method Name : CopyPartitionTables

The code seems to be just dropping the values from the table. Try a truncate table on it in SQL in your target DB.

I can delete record from SQL but when I try to delete it from AX ,it raised error.

If the AOS validation fails, again, you need to check validateWrite and aosValidateWrite methods that under what conditions does it return false value for allowing you to remove the values. If the records would be deleted anyway and you are unable to decide why does the validation fail, either get a developer who can read code, or remove the value in SQL and see if you are able to resume with the checklist.

If the answers above has resolved your issue, take your time to tick the checkbox next to the helpful posts to close the topic.

We communicated in microsoft, they suggested that this issue raised due to some customization so we removed this class from the USR layer then complied application and run the Full CIL, then successfully connected to source database.

    Thanks Vilmos for your suggestion.
