Microsoft Dynamics CRM (Archived)

View search

Posted on by 2,665

Hi,

I have a view with search enabled on it. And I have added quick find columns to be able to search for those column values.

One of the column is a auto number field which has data in this format: D-1, D-2, D-3 etc.

So, if I search for D-1, I am getting all these results: D-1, D-10, D-11, D-12,D-13 etc.

All that starts with D-1 and I am looking for just one result. Advanced find works great though which gives me only one record. What controls this behavior? How can I adjust the search feature so it gives me only desired result?

Thanks for any help!

    Hi Roxanna, For CRM Online users we have to accept this behaviour for quick serach as we dont have full text indexing available. since you are on CRM On premise you may be able utilise Full text indexing for Quick Find to Configure and Manage Stopwords and Stoplists for Full-Text Search.

    The following describe how you can configure your stoplists, however this may also impact your performance so a senior Database admin should be involved if you decide to make these changes;

    Hello Roxanna,

    These are the default settings for MS Dynamics CRM, you cannot change it.  Quick Find always searches in text* format,( that is starts with text) and Advance find search for the exact text.
    All you have to do is to wisely choose between the two depending on your need. If you want to retrieve records based on any other criteria which is not supported by quick find/quick search / Advance find , you need to write plugin codes for retrieving the data records.

    Refer this link on various search capabilities within CRM  :

    Hope this helps

    Thank you :)

    By default quick search is START WITH, but you can write plugin on RetrieveMultiply message that change query to EQUAL or whatever you want.
