Disabling one admin has disabled both

Hi,

I seem to have come across an odd problem in dynamics CRM 2013. I have crm2013 set up to have two deployment admins and System administrators, one which for this purpose will be referred to as Admin, and the other, my own account, which i will refer to as M. However, dynamics CRM seems to be mapping the privellages of the M account, from the Admin account.

Now, to save on licenses, i had decided to disable the Admin user from dynamics crm, this had unexpectedly caused my own user (M) to be locked out instead. I then went into the DB Table directly to reenable this user, restarted the server running the crm services, and my user was once again able to access the crm.

So I thought i'd see what would happen if i changed the license type from Professional User to Administrator, thinking i would still be able to access the settings directly, this time however, though i can log in, i get an error message saying i do not have sufficent privellages to access any of the menu settings, including users.

This ofcourse is especially strange as i am logged in from the M account, so any changes made to the Admin account should have no affect on me at all, however instead dynamics crm seems to be mapping all my security roles from the Admin account rather than my own.

If anyone has come across this before or knows how i might be able to solve this please let me know. I am wondering if this may be something to do with the settings, such as the M account being set to act on behalf of the Admin account. I say this because in the database, the changes i had made such as to users, states that the change was made by my user account, on behalf of the admin account. However i had never set it up to do such a thing, nor do i know how to.

    HI,

Changes in one user should not interfere on the other.

You can check the mapping of the users, CRM users and AD users are different, are they properly mapped to the respective ones?

Also it is common to have this kind of Issues when the CRMAppPool runs Under a CRM Account, does your CRMappPool runs with any of Admin or M Account?

    Check - http://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/2593042

    Hey Allan,

Thank you so much for your reply, had completely forgotten about the CRMAppPool service account when changing all the service accounts to dedicated accounts and so was instead concentrating on trying to figure out if the mapping was wrong which thankfully it wasn't.

I have changed the crmapppool account to its own account and everything works fine now. Thanks again.
