Word Templates - Add new fields

Posted on by Microsoft Employee

Hi

I need to change a word template report and add additional fields. These fields are not on the report writer modified report so what I did was in report writer I map a table relationship and then I saved out the xml and reimported into my word template. But the fields are not being listed even though if I open my xml file I can see them. I do not want these fields displayed on the report writer modified report so I have not added them to the layout. I thought it was enough to have the tables linked but maybe I need to add to the report layout and if so how can I hide them (these are header and line fields) they are only to be shown in the word template only. Thanks Marguerite.

Hi thanks for replying. Can you confirm if I am to add the fields to the gray area (far right of report)?

I did this previously and then generated the xml.

The xml contained the new fields but in the word template when I add and remove source the fields are not listed under any of the report sections. Am I missing something else ?

You need to add them to the report writer report , any fields I don't want to display I usually put off to one side of the report (outside the size of the paper if printed) that way they will only show if you print to screen and expand the screen.
