Email Analytics / Email Routing

(0) ShareShare

Posted on by

I'm checking into Dynamics for my company, and an important function would be email analytics. I'm seeing a lot of information about email tracking, but that seems to be more of a history of emails vs Opened/Unopened/Fwd stats. I see several companies offering this options as addons, but did this get integrated in Dynamics 2011?

Also, it seems several people use Constant Contact to send emails vs. the Email Routing system. Are there complications with sending the emails from your own server?

Thanks for any help. Just trying to put all this together.

The features offered by Constant Contact, ExactTarget, CoreMotives, ClickDimensions allow a greater user experience as well as integrated tracking & reporting. You can certainly use the email router, but then, you wouldnt be able to track email open rates, click through rates etc.

So, depending on what your purpose is, the Email Router by itself may be sufficient. On the other hand, if you want to advanced email tracking, it is worth considering & investing in these additional solutions.

I think you're better off using an addon email analytics rather than bloatware from the email service providers. There are many paid ones like Litmus and free (better IMHO) ones like Campaigncog.

But if you need all the trimmings like list management etc then you can go for one of the ESPs. I use to use Sendgrid for SMTP services and had a very thin app that managed lists for me. I then bolted on analytics from Campaigncog.

    I hope the above helps.

Thanks for the Campaigncog info, links like that are exactly what I'm digging for. We have several functions we need Dynamics/Sharepoint to do, that don't seem to come out-of-box but are add-on options. I'm just trying to put together all the options that are available to stay as integrated as possible, but still be affordable.

I have some other functions I'm looking into. If you happen to know any other solutions or advice it would be  a huge help.

    1. Events Management/Registration (I've seen the provided customer portal seems to have some events ability, but I'm not sure how much yet.)

    2. Help Tickets ( Internal system to ask IT for help and track that work. This maybe more of a Sharepoint function)

    Thanks for any advice.
